At least two hundred people participated in the simultaneous events organized by SMEIDFI agencies in line with the celebration of Earth Day 2018. In Sariaya, Quezon students and faculty from St. Bridget College, girls, sisters, staff, volunteers, and friends gathered in Good Shepherd Farm in the morning for an eco-walk, soil painting facilitated by Sr. Cielo Matuloy, RGS, and hands on experience in vermiculture and solid waste management. Sr. Ailyn Binco, RGS. In the afternoon, participants were invited to participate in ecological sessions and commitment activities to symbolize their personal commitments in taking care of nature.
In Surigao del Sur, Sr. Angelita Clemen, RGS along with Sr. Juliet Abrigo, RGS and Sr. Michelle Gamboa, RGS organized a fun run together with indigenous youth and scholarship program beneficiaries in RGS Tuburan Farm. Dozens participated in the fun run that aimed to popularize the celebration and foster the awareness of the public to ecological issues in the community.
