SMEIDFI starts 2019 with two new projects

01/10/2019

The new year 2019 intends to be another inspiring and fulfilling year for SMEIDFI as it inked out two meaningful projects that will further propel its mission to care for and empower those who are least, lost and marginalized, particularly women and children.

With support from Children’s Hour, a local grant-giving organization for children based in Manila, SMEIDFI is implementing a 12-month project “Sustaining the Healing and Empowerment of Girls in Trauma Informed Care Project” or SHE Project. Through the SHE Project, SMEIDFI hopes to enhance and sustain its residential care services through the provision of basic as well as psycho-social-spiritual needs of its program partners. This project will benefit the new Assessment Center in Quezon City for survivors of online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC) and Welcome House Paco.

Another project is “Year 2: Strengthening Campaign on Protection of Women and Girls Who are Survivors and At-Risk Exploitation” with support from the WWDP German Committee based in Stein, Germany. It supplements the need to have a purposeful faith-based advocacy strategy and mechanism to protect, promote, and fulfill the rights of women and children. Concretely, WWDP intends to develop and implement a national faith-based advocacy plan towards eliminating all forms of violence against women and children (VAWC), including trafficking and prostitution. This project will enable SMEIDFI to build its Advocacy Unit and provide for the basic needs of Balay Paglaum sa Maayong Magbalantay in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Equally complementing and reinforcing each other, the partnerships with Children’s Hour and WWDP resolve to provide and strengthen SMEIDFI’s programs and services for women and children as well as embark on a purposeful advocacy strategy and faith-based capacity development on issues and concerns relating to VAWC.
